Trailer: Fathom Events 60th Anniversary screening of What Ever Happened to Baby Jane
In honor of the 60th anniversary of its theatrical release, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? will return to theatres nationwide, courtesy of Fathom Events. Screenings take place on June 12 and 15, starting at 7pm. Engagements in the Los Angeles area include AMC Citywalk, AMC Burbank, and the Fine Arts Theatre.
Though not exactly a horror movie, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? is definitely horror-adjacent. With a deranged former child movie star (Bette Davis) holding her invalid sister (Joan Crawford) trapped in their house under grueling conditions, the film is generally seen as part of the “horror of personality” wave that followed in the wake of Psycho (1960), featuring psychologically unbalanced humans instead of monsters (there is even a murder scene that recalls the Hitchocock film). Definitely worth seeing for fans of classic movies, though the 1964 follow up, Hush…Hush, Sweet Charlotte was even better.
