Trailer: L.A. Haunted Hayride Live Drive-Up Experience

Los Angeles Haunted Hayride has dropped the trailer for its Halloween 2020 presentation, a return to 2019’s Midnight Falls, which is billed as a combination of drive-up and drive-through that will provide a “scary, safe Halloween experience.”

The official description is below

Thinking you’re going to miss out on Halloween this year? Not if we have anything to say about it. This year, we’re bringing the hayride to you! Announcing the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride: Live Drive Up Experience. A first of its kind, immersive and interactive experience from the creators of LA’s favorite Halloween event. Experience this reimagined haunted event from the “safety” of your car! Don’t call it a drive thru, and don’t call it a drive in, it’s a combination of the best parts of both, plus our own spin on things. You will drive down a creepy stretch of road featuring some of the sets and scenic environments you’ve come to love at the hayride, followed by a haunted show featuring an original multimedia story displayed on a 40 foot screen, as well as horrifying sets and live characters from Midnight Falls! This will be the Halloween event that everyone in LA is talking about, don’t miss out! Tickets are extremely limited and will sell out nightly.

The L.A. Haunte Hayride’s website makes the case for the event’s low-risk environment:

The safety of our fans, performers and staff is our top priority. This experience was designed to meet all local health and safety standards and state regulations. Of course, we’ll be wearing our masks, it’s Halloween after all. All staff will wear protective face coverings, even under their theatrical masks. Please follow local guidelines for mask requirements in your vehicle and please pay attention to email updates as information is subject to change.

And further down is this disclaimer:

COVID-19 WARNING: We have taken enhanced health and safety measures for you and our staff. You must follow all posted instructions while attending the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride: Live Drive Up Experience. An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and guests with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable. By attending the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride: Live Drive Up Experience you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19. Please help keep each other healthy.

The big advantage of the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride, in regard to safety from the pandemic, is the attraction’s outdoor setting, and of course, keeping customers in their own cars provides the appropriate social distancing from the live actors. Will it work? Similar attractions are operating in Japan even now, and we have yet to hear of any being traced as the source of an outbreak.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow.
