Trailer: Meg 2 – The Trench

In the great tradition of sequels that includes scenes from the book that were omitted in the first movie (looking at you The Lost World: Jurassic Park) comes Meg 2, which finally shows the memorable prologue of the shark attacking a T-Rex. The film promises multiple Megs and more mayhem than its predecessor, Meg, which was actually a pretty decent monster movie despite the over-the-top premise.

Ben Wheatley directed from a screenplay by Jon Hoeber & Erich Hoeber and Dean Georgaris, inspired by Steve Alten’s novel The Trench. Jason Statham is back to battle more giant sharks. Supporting cast includes Cliff Curtis, Sienna Guillory, Shuya Sophia Cai, Skyler Samuels, Melissanthi Mahut, and Page Kennedy. Official US theatrical release date is Friday August 4, with “preview screening” starting the evening before.
